Your donation is key to supporting the work of the Ecological Forecasting Initiative (EFI). EFI is an international, grassroots consortium that fosters an interdisciplinary community of practice for near-term (daily to decadal) ecological forecasting. Achieving this goal requires a diverse and inclusive community of researchers working together. 

Our Activities

EFI’s vision is to use forecasts to understand, manage, and conserve ecosystems. We have engaged thousands of academic, agency, NGO, and industry scientists and partners through conferences, workshops, working groups, international chapters, webinars, journal articles, white papers, social media, YouTube videos, standards, and policy briefs. We have developed multiple NSF- and other agency-funded forecast training opportunities and have collaborated closely with professional societies e.g., Ecological Society of America, American Meteorological Society, National Ecological Observatory Network, etc.

Your donation will support EFI’s wide range of programming, including, but not limited to:

• Student awards, 
• Student travel scholarships, 
• Student publication costs, 
• Conference events, and 
• EFI-supported seminar series

What payment platform do you use?

• We use the Pledge It platform, designed for non-profit fundraising. The payment portal is linked to our fiscal sponsor, Ecologistics, Inc.

What is EFI’s relationship to Ecologistics, Inc.? Will all of my donations go directly to EFI?

• EFI receives non-profit status under the umbrella of fiscal sponsorship by Ecologistics, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in California.
  Ecologistics, Inc. will be the named entity on your donation, however, 94% of your contribution will go directly to funding EFI initiatives, and 6% will go to Ecologistics for their administrative support. 

Are there any fees associated with my donation?

• Yes. Donations made through Pledge It incur a 2.2% + $0.30 processing fee. For international donations, there is a 1.5% fee for international cards and a 1% charge if a currency conversion is required.
  To maximize the impact of your support, you can choose to cover the processing fees in the Pledge It portal (fees subject to change). 

Do you take international payments? I’m not based in the US.

• Yes. You can choose to make your donation in your preferred currency.
